Five-day Siem Reap Culture and Adventure Itinerary

On January 27 to February 2, 2013, my Buddy and I went to Siem Reap Cambodia to spend our 17th Anniversary as a couple.


It was our first time to visit the country so I decided to create an itinerary that would balance culture and adventure based on highly recommended experiences found on the web.


Here's how our itinerary looked like:


January 27 Sunday
 

Airport Transfers via Tuk Tuk -
No taxis here :)


Angkor Pearl Hotel Reception
From Manila (NAIA), we arrived at Siem Reap International Airport  at  9:30pm, and was picked-up by Hotel Tuk Tuk (part of Hotel service).
 
We then checked in at Angkor Pearl Hotel where we were welcomed by a cold drink and a cold wet towel to wipe off our dusty faces straight from the open tuk-tuk ride.


January 28 Monday

Full day Angkor Temple Tour
(8am – 4pm)

  • Morning temple tour: Angkor thom, Bayon Baphon, Phinmean Akas , elephant terrace and leper king terrace.
  • Lunch Break at the local restaurant
  • Afternoon temple tour: Angkor Wat and Phnom Backeng.

 
  • Dinner and Cultural Show at Koulen II (Aspara Dance Show)



January 29 Tuesday

Floating Village Tour and Quad Biking
(8am - 7pm)
    • Morning temple tour: Kampong Pluk  - stilt villages.

    • Afternoon temple tour : 2- hour easy quad bike around the village (with side trip to a local orphanage); sun set viewing at the fields
 



January 30 Wednesday

Sunrise at Angkor Wat, Landmine Museum and Shopping at Local Market
(5am – 4pm)

  • Morning temple tour: Sun rise tour at Srah Srong and onward to Taprom ..
 


  • Lunch Break at the local restaurant
  • Afternoon: War Museum - Landmine Museum; shopping at the local market






 
January 31 Thursday

Rest Day

We were fortunate to meet a kabayan and had dinner with her family and colleagues (Filipino Expats in Cambodia).
 

We then went back to Hotel to get our stuff and was taken to the airport by the Hotel Tuk Tuk (USD 5).


At 10:30pm, we had our flight back to Manila and arrived at the Manila Airport at around 2:10 am (Friday).

We paid $330 for two for our tour package which included all of the above itinerary and the following:

  • Transportation  with private air-conditioned van during the tour
  • Quad bike arrangement for 2people
  • Local English speaking tour guide
  • Cold mineral water during the tour

Note: The cost above does not include room accommodations ( USD 104 with buffet breakfast), cost of  meals at the local restaurants and Koulen II  (USD 15 each), admission fee for the temples(USD 40 each), War Museum entrance (USD 5 each), or other personal expenses outside of the suggested itinerary (i.e. shopping).
